We offer 4 different plans to fit your individual preferences, including:
- A consumer-driven health and prescription drug plan that combines a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA) administered by Anthem (Quinnipiac funds 50% of the deductible into your HSA)
- A Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health and prescription drug plan with medical coverage administered by Anthem and prescription drug coverage administered by MaxorPlus
- A Point of Service (POS) health and prescription drug plan with medical coverage administered by Anthem and prescription drug coverage administered by MaxorPlus
- A Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health and prescription drug plan with Medical coverage administered by Anthem and prescription drug coverage administered by MaxorPlus
We offer three plans for dental coverage that cover diagnostic/preventive services, basic services and major services at a set percentage.
We offer two vision plans administered by EyeMed Vision and VSP. Both plans offer reduced-cost benefits and discounts when using in-network providers.
Section 125 plan
With a Section 125 plan, you pay for qualified benefit premiums before any taxes are deducted from your paycheck (saving on federal, state and FICA taxes) at no cost to you.
Payment in lieu of medical and dental benefits
If you waive both medical and dental coverage, you are eligible to receive an annual cash supplement. Some guidelines apply.
Health care flexible spending account (FSA)
You may use tax-free dollars contributed from your paycheck to pay eligible health care expenses, such as medical, dental, vision and hearing copays, deductibles and coinsurance, and other eligible expenses not covered by your medical plan (those enrolled in the Consumer Choice/Value HSA Plan are not eligible).
Basic life insurance
Eligible employees are enrolled in Basic Life insurance coverage automatically, which covers up to two times your annual salary (receive a reduced benefit beginning at age 70) at no cost.
Basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage
Eligible employees are enrolled automatically in Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, which provides coverage equal to the Basic Life benefit in the event of injury or death from an accident at no cost.
Supplemental voluntary life and AD&D insurance
We offer voluntary supplemental life and AD&D insurance through Cigna. We also offer spousal coverage at a percent of your coverage amount and child coverage at a set amount. Supplemental coverage rates for you/your spouse are based on age and coverage elected.
Voluntary critical illness insurance
Our voluntary critical illness coverage provides financial protection if you are diagnosed with a covered illness. The plan is administered by Guardian and offers three levels of coverage. We also offer spousal and child coverage at a percent of your coverage amount. Coverage rates for you/your spouse are based on age and coverage elected.
Employer-paid critical illness coverage
If you are enrolled in the Consumer Choice/Value HSA plan, this Quinnipiac-paid coverage will pay a benefit if you're diagnosed with a covered illness. Automatic coverage is provided at no cost to you (benefit is considered taxable income).
Long-term disability insurance (LTD)
After a certain amount of time working for Quinnipiac, we offer you a LTD insurance plan, administered by Cigna. This plan pays a portion of your salary if you’re unable to work due to a non-work-related accident or illness at no cost to you (benefit is considered taxable income).
You, your spouse/domestic partner and your dependent children can enroll in Quinnipiac courses after a specified length of employment.
Tuition exchange program
Dependent children of eligible full-time faculty and administrators may attend other colleges and universities (some restrictions apply).
Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET) 529 savings plan
A state-sponsored, tax-advantaged 529 college savings plan helps you to plan for the cost of higher education. You may use the funds for tuition, required fees, certain room and board costs, books, supplies, computers, and related technology costs, such as internet access fees and printers. You may elect to make payroll deductions straight to your CHET account. You’re also eligible to receive a state income tax deduction on your contributions.
Future Financial Security
403(b) defined contribution retirement plan
You may contribute up to a certain amount of pre-tax money to a 403(b) defined contribution account. During the first five years of employment, you may voluntarily contribute to this plan, and we will match your contribution up to 5%. After five years of employment, we contribute an amount equal to 10% of your salary, regardless of whether you contribute to the plan. You may invest in any of the funds in the Quinnipiac Fund Array at TIAA.
Tax-deferred annuity retirement savings plan
You may direct voluntary contributions to the Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity offered by TIAA, which provides a loan and hardship withdrawal option.
Group long-term care insurance
This voluntary, employee-paid insurance coverage provided by Genworth Life Insurance Company is available to newly hired, full-time, benefits-eligible employees because of Quinnipiac's member affiliation in the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC).

Paid time off, sick days, holidays and parental leave
We take your work-life balance seriously, and offer very generous paid time off and sick time. In addition, we observe numerous paid holidays and we are closed between Christmas and New Years. For eligible faculty and staff, we offer paid parental leave.

You may elect to use tax-free dollars contributed from your paycheck to pay eligible dependent day care expenses, such as childcare services and after-school programs.
