Benefits for Part-Time Faculty

We offer many generous benefits and strive to ensure our part-time faculty enjoy a positive working environment.

A part-time faculty member is eligible for the medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits if he/she is teaching six credits or more and also has taught twelve credits or more in two of the last four (calendar) years.

Health Care

Medical coverage

We offer 3 different plans to fit your individual preferences, including:

  • A Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health and prescription drug plan with an annual deductible with
    medical coverage administered by Anthem and prescription drug coverage administered by MaxorPlus
  • A Point of Service (POS) health and prescription drug plan with medical coverage administered by Anthem and prescription drug coverage administered by MaxorPlus
  • A Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health and prescription drug plan with no annual deductible with medical coverage administered by Anthem and prescription drug coverage administered by MaxorPlus

Dental coverage

We offer three tiers for dental coverage that cover diagnostic/preventive services, basic services and major services at a set percentage.

Vision coverage

We offer a vision plan administered by EyeMed Vision that covers an annual eye exam for a low copay, as well as reduced-cost benefits and discounts when using in-network providers.

Section 125 plan

With a Section 125 plan, you may pay for qualified benefit premiums before any taxes are deducted from your paycheck (saving on federal, state and FICA taxes) at no cost to you.

Tuition remission

You, your spouses/domestic partner and your dependent children can enroll in Quinnipiac courses, depending on the number of credits you are teaching.

Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET) 529 savings plan

A state-sponsored, tax-advantaged 529 college savings plan helps you to plan for the cost of higher education. You may use the funds for tuition, required fees, certain room and board costs, books, supplies, computers, and related technology costs, such as internet access fees and printers. We offer you the ability to easily elect to make payroll deductions to CHET. You’re also eligible to receive a state income tax deduction on your contributions.

Caring for the whole employee

Every year, the Human Resources team offers the Benefits, Health and Wellness Fair to advise employees about their benefits coverage and assist them with open enrollment. In addition, employees can enjoy activities such as gong therapy, chair massages, giveaways and raffles.

Future Financial Security

403(b) defined contribution retirement plan

You can contribute up to a certain amount of pre-tax money to a 403(b) defined contribution account, and we will match your contribution up to 5%. After you contribute to the plan for five years, we contribute an amount equal to 10% of your salary, regardless of whether you contribute to the plan. You may invest in any of the funds in the Quinnipiac Fund Array at TIAA.

Tax-deferred annuity retirement savings plan

You may direct voluntary contributions to the Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity offered by TIAA, which provides a loan and hardship withdrawal option.

Work and Family

Health advocate

You and your family members can obtain assistance with finding doctors and specialists, resolving claims issues, negotiating medical bills, navigating Medicare, locating in-home care, assisted living and long-term care facilities, and more using this free, confidential 24/7 service.

Employee assistance program (EAP)

You and your family members may call the EAP for free, healthy living resources to help you with work/life balance concerns such as stress, marital issues, alcohol and substance abuse, depression, grief counseling and more. This service is confidential and available 24/7.

Bobcat Rewards discount program

We partner with local merchants and service providers to offer discounts and/or special rates to you. Participating vendors include sports venues, theme parks, theater tickets, local restaurants, fitness clubs, shopping retailers, hotels and more.

Living Well wellness program

Living Well is a university-wide initiative to provide you with tools, resources and support to achieve your own wellness and financial-health goals. Through the program, you can earn wellness incentives by receiving preventive screenings and/or attending wellness events.
